I used a proxy and now cannot connect

January 11, 2011 at 17:23:16
Specs: Windows 7, Dell Studio 17
So I wanted to use a proxy server to access some things online.

I removed my server details and unchecked the "use a proxy server" box in IE7 and....nothing
I can't use thunderbird, skype, IE7, nothing connects to the internet and the Windows (7) troubleshooter says "Everythings fine, no problems here, you are already connected to the internet"

Which may well be true in some obscure regard but I am most certainly not connected in general...... How do I fix this? Any suggestions welcome I'll try anything (except a fresh reinstall as I have a dual boot system and would need to reinstall linux again after

I'm using Linux to write this question Viva La Linux, long live freedom :)

Be sure you set to automatically detect settings in IE.

I assume this is where you set proxy.

Use nslookup www.google.com to see what returns. It may be a dns deal too. See ipconfig /all

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

OK, Yes my "Auto Detect Settings" is Checked (Although it wasn't before the proxy set up and I've tried connecting with it unchecked also.

Here's SP's of my Connection settings in IE7

So i think everything's "OK" there right?

I Tried Nslookup on Google but got
"Unknown Can't find www.google.com no response from server"

I ran IPCONFIG /all and this is the output

Interesting,
Despite the LAN Lights Flashing as they do and my wireless Network being 'connected' according to the OS?
(perhaps wireless wasn't connected when I took the Ipconfig though I'll do it again)
And the "Wondey's" Troubleshooter saying it could not see a connection problem....

A Virus maybe?, I hard;y use the OS but maybe the proxy I used delivered it?
