There are lot of antivirus programs you can run from a cd. Without even booting from windows. So you can boot from that cd and remove the virus. You will able to work on windows normally. you can search for that software in www.softpedia.com. i think most of them are free. finally all antivirus software are not good. microsoft security essentials is a good antivirus software. You can find information's about a good antivirus software from here. http://www.techyv.com/questions/wha...
And there are fake antivirus software. so download only from a popular website like www.softpedia.com

Hope this helpful,
good-luck

The best place to download an Anti-virus from is the publishers website. As for softpedia, never heard of them

http://free.avg.com/gb-en/download

http://www.avast.com/en-gb/index

We still ne to know how you think you have a virus. To lose all your programmes is not the normal behaviour of a virus.

Try Booting to Safe Mode then run System Restore to a date when everything worked. After that Run Malwarebytes in safe mode to search for infections that your antivirus program might have missed. Then update your antivirus program (assuming you have a decent one, or switch to Avast if not) and run that also. Then restart in normal mode and see if it helped.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
