AC adapters don't need drivers. What is your problem?

I fear you have been misinformed. Your problem sounds like a hardware fault. Perhaps it is simply that the battery needs replacing; they only last a limited number of charges. A computer shop could probably test it for you; but I wouldn't take any futher advice from the person who told you that you need a driver for the AC adapter.

As for missing drivers, that is a separate problem; download them from the Dell web site. But that will not (IMO) solve your charging problem.

It was working before the reinstallation and its like a new laptop so I doubt its a battery issue something is preventing it from charging

Look in Device Manager for any items that have yellow icons next to them. That's the driver you need. Next, go to Support.dell.com and enter the Service Tag from the bottom of the laptop...usually 7 characters. You can download machine-specific files from Dell's site.

Well, I still don't see how a lack of drivers can be the cause of your problem. A laptop will charge quite happily when it is switched off. The thing about broken computers is that they were always working just before they stopped working.

As it is "like a new laptop" I would refer it to Dell under warranty.

That's an EXPENSIVE unit....I would suggest you call dell tech support as it should still be under warranty...any reason why you didn't contact them yet?
