Specs: Windows 7
I got a new computer with windows 7 and I would like to learn how to backup my files. I had another computer with windows XP and no back up, I would like to find out how to prevent this, just in cas, so I can save my files in a backup dvd.

You will need a seperate medium to back up your files to. I use an externel USB drive. I use a program (Second Copy) to back up selected folders at a time and date of your choosing. This ensures that a copy of all my data exista somewhere other then my hard drive. I also use this drive to house a disk image of Drive C that I write peridically.

If you are determined to backup your files to DVD I think you will have to do this manually.

Control Panel>System and Security>Back Up Your Computer and follow the prompts. Windows 7 includes a good back up system and I believe you can use DVD's without problems, and you can allow windows to select or you can custom select your backed up files. You will eventually want to get either an second internal or external (portable) hard drive for your back ups. It can hold multiple back ups and even a system image and you won't have to keep purchasing new DVD disks.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
