I installed 32 bit not 64 bit on new laptop

Specs: Windows 7 home Premium, Intel Core i5 2.67GHz / 8 gigs
I recently bought a new laptop and thought that I had selected install 64 bit on first use. however when i went into system information it says that it is 32 bit. How do I change it to 64 bit so that I can access my full 8.00 gb ram?

You cannot upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit OS. The only way would be to back up all data, do a clean install of the OS, reinstall all applications, and restore your data.
