First you need to understand that each installation considers the partition it is installed on to be THE 'C' drive and assign other drives other letters (operating system dependent). The letters are not the order they are physically on the disk. You need to establish which one you need/want. Windows cannot format or delete it's own partition which it letters as C drive, you should be able to delete the D partition from withing Disk Manager and reallocate the space. The problem then comes when you try to restart later since depending on which one you deleted, you may have damaged or deleted the boot files, or you will have a reference to a dual windows 7 boot but with only one really there. If you are not able to boot (missing boot file), then put in your Windows 7 install disk and do a repair to fix the boot problem. If you boot up but have listed both the correct copy and and the deleted copy, choose the correct one and start. Once in Windows, run msconfig, go to boot tab and remove the second one there.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
