i have Windows 7 shutdown problem on laptop

Specs: Windows XP, 2gb
a problem has been detected and windows has been stut down to prevent damage

Try restarting. Many problems are fixed by just restarting. Post back results and any messages.
This is Windows 7 forum but you show XP on top. You should make sure you are in the correct forum for appropriate advice.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

best drop in the recovery disk and run a repair of your win 7 installation. you did make a recovery disk when you got your computer didnt you?

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

If your system came with Windows 7 then you have a recovery partition from which you can do the start up repair (see manual or online manual). If you upgraded to Windows 7, use the upgrade disk to do the start up repair. You can also order recovery disk set from manufacturer for a small fee if your system came with Windows 7.
Do not do a factory restore unless you have tried everything else AND you have taken steps to recover your files from the drive first (Boot to Linux disk (not installed) and use that to save your files via USB drive).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
