Specs: Windows 7
I purchased an old version of quickbooks pro 2001. It won't install. It wants internet explorer 5.5 and won't use version 11. It also can't access my font registry. Help I'm doing this to keep my grandpa still active with what he is used to be doing. he's to old to upgrade at this point. his computer died and I'm trying to get it install on this one.

I wonder if xpmode would work with QuickBooks. I have never tried it. Not sure what version of Windows 7 you are running

According this article, using Windows Virtual PC - Windows XP Mode can run quickbooks 2001:

I have successfully installed Quickbooks Pro 2001 in windows 7 Pro (Ultimate as well) using the Windows Virtual PC - Windows XP Mode. It was several months ago so I may have forgot something. I was able to update manually to the last update within XP mode as well. That update is availiable via google as it may no longer be on the Intuit site. My recollection was the update had to be installed to get Quickbooks Pro 2001 to recognize a browser other than internet 5.5. I also had to install the appropriate java appelate in the Virtual machine; also easily done. As far as your data files are concerned; you can either use a mapped external drive or place you data in one of the folders that are accessible within Windows XP mode. It works great and reports print great as well.
