can I transfer quickbooks 2001 data to windows 7 new computer. What version of quickbooks do I need if it can be done.

The data (files/records) are easy to transfer, it is the program that you may need to update (see links above).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

To add to the above comments, if you have been using Quickbooks in the past you have been backing up you files when prompted. That is the only thing you need in order to transfer the company profile to a new installation.

You can try installing 2001 in a windows compatibility mode. If you get it installed then use the backup to open your company.

You don't transfer Quickbooks. You re-install Quickbooks and apply the backup to open your old company.

I assume you don't do payroll with Quickbooks?
