Specs: Windows 7
After I bought a new Toshiba laptop and started using it wireless, my wife's slightly older laptop started disconnecting from wi fi freequently.
Mine works great with ''excellent'' connectivity, whereas hers often falls and sometimes reads ''good'' connectivity.

It depends on the "range" capability of the wireless adapter within the laptop.
Yours evidently has a better coverage range than your wife's, so your signal strength is higher than hers.

Her wireless performance will have been further affected by the simple fact that it's now having to compete with another user on the same network.

It turns out my wife had one month of free McAfee antivirus which should have expired months ago and that removing that resolved the issue!
