Specs: Windows 7
I am trying to figure out why my HP lap top won't play dvd's. Idk if it's just my lap top or if they are known for having problems. When we first bought the laptop at sams club for around $800. We never tried the dvd player because we didn't need it. Just bought it for internet and face book and that. My computer is about 2 and a half years old now I tried to put a movie on for my kids. It started clicking and say's please insert disk. So I have tried about 30 different movies washed them off tried a cleaning disk for the eye and after about 2 hours of trying Scream played. I even tried movies that were never opened before. I was so mad because Scream's not appropriate for a 3 and 4 year old. Just wondering if anyone would know why my dvd would make this noise then say please insert disk??? I tried a burnt movie that my neighbor gave me it started right up but yet again it was another Wes Craven movie. Maybe my dvd only likes Wes Craven who knows lol. Scream is old and scratched all to hell so who knows why it played.

Are the DVDs you are trying commercial ones or burnt copies?

Hey Ewen...
'I even tried movies that were never opened before' That sounds like commercial movies to me...

I tried a burnt movie that my neighbor gave me it started right up hmmmm....that sounds like a burnt one LOL

VampireKitten24 sounds like you may have an intermittent problem with your DVD player...maybe the laptop was dropped at some point in time and jarred something loose?
