I have a problem booting my computer

Specs: Windows 7
I have a problem booting my computer . When powering up the PC the toshiba sign comes on and then a black screen with the following message on the screen rolling over and over comes up

Intel UNDI, PXE 2.1 (build. 082)
This product is covered by one of the following patents eg US5 307 459 etc.
Realtek PCI Express Fast Ethernet Controller Series v1.15 (090224)
PXE E61 Media Test Failure, check cable
PXE-MOF Exiting PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

I have check in bios and my hard drive is not detected
HDD #1/ SSD #1 : None
Optical Disk Drive: MATs---ADVD-RAM UJ890ES

however when i change the order of my booting device and put Cd/Dvd matshidadvd-ram on top of the list it works but not all of the time. I am very confused to why this is happening and any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

my computer is a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 and runs on window 7 !

If it is not detecting your hard drive then your possibilities are:
Bad hard drive.
Disconnected or bad power or signal cable to hard drive.
Something more serious....
Try booting into the BIOS set up and see what it says about the hard drive from there (report back the details)
If you know the brand of the hard drive (open and look) you can use their utility to test the hard drive by making a bootable CD with the utility on it.
Open and check the hard drive's connectors are tight and inspect the wires for pinching, cutting, fraying, etc.
Post back the results.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
