Does this drive have any inbuilt software on it?

If not you could try going to Computer, right click the drive (ensure it is the right one) and format it.

EDIT:
The is not really a programming issue. It might do better on the hardware forum. I'll ask the mods if they are prepared to move it there.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

How long have you had this item? A google trawl seems to show it's "quite elderly"...?

Is it per chance second hand or more to you; rather than "new"?

Apart from one slightly dubious source there do not appear to be any references for Windows7 drivers...

You say (in your earlier post a few days back) that it makes a lot of noise but no music...

Is the "noise" that from the cooling fan?

Does the unit show up in Windows Explorer/MyComputer?

Does the unit (in theory at least) run dvds too? If so what happens with one of those?

Yeah I don't think Mad Dog has been around for awhile. I used to buy some of their rebated video cards and cd burners at compusa.

Have you tried it in another computer? If it won't work there then it's probably just bad and not a driver or windows issue.

Yeah, it's an external dvd burner, or do they have more than one product with that same model number?

Oh dear, #5 and #6 were spot on. I was thinking it was an external HD drive so neither inbuilt software nor format come into it - sorry about that - brain failure.

Better tell us exactly what happens when you try to use the software disc. If nothing whatever appears on the screen, go to Computer and find the drive. Browse the software disc and see if there is a file called "setup", "install" (or similar). If you find one double click it and see if that installs the software.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
