Start by telling us which app you used.

If you are connecting to the Internet via cable you wont see a list of broadband connections. There is only one available to you and that is the one provided by the router the cable is plugged into. The colour of the cable is irrelevant.

You wont be asked for a user-name or password either as that is programmed into the router and a virus should have no effect on it. If you connected to the Internet the router shouldn't need configuring.

To get to the routers configuration screen, go to a command prompt and type ipconfig. Enter the IP address shown next to default gateway into you browser. This will be something along the lines of 192.168.xxx.xxx.

If you get prompted for a user name and password you need to enter it. This is different to the user name and password provided by your ISP. If you have forgotten it you may need to reset your router and start again from scratch.
