Question not at all clear. I assume that you already have some version of Norton and you are trying to install a newer version using a CD.

If the above is the case then try to disable your current Norton, then uninstall it from the Control panel > Programs and Features. If it doesn't uninstall fully then go to the Symantec website and download an uninstaller program.

Once Norton has gone it the new version should install by inserting the CD. If not then browse the CD and look for a setup or install file to double click on.

Alternatively forget all about it and use Avast free version which is very good. You will still need to follow the Norton uninstall procedure first because it is bad to have more than one AV running together.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Best: uninstall Norton, take the loss and install Avast Free version. Much better.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you haven't opened the package yet, take it back & get a refund! Norton is nothing but overpriced bloatware that will slow your system. There are plenty of free anti-virus programs available that are much more lightweight & work just as well, if not better. AVAST has been mentioned, two others are AVG & Microsoft Security Essentials.

I use free AV's myself and mentioned Avast in response #1. However I've seen many times on the net that recent Norton packages are no longer the bloated resource hogs
they used to be.

Happy for this to be refuted if someone has "recent" experience or information to the contrary.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
