I am using windows 7 & i'm lossing disk space

Specs: Windows 7, 1 GB ram
I have deleted unwated file (movies) and i have uninstalled unused programs but my free disk space on C: drive just does not get bigger instead it just gets smaller. I have also done disk clean up but to no success. Please help i am really desperate.

Are you using System Restore ? The restore points use up space–you can set a maximum for that and also recover all of the space by temporarily disabling System Restore.

That is correct. System restore is setting a new restore point after each program you uninstalled. If disk space is limited, reduce the default 12% space allowed for system restore to maybe 8%. Just remember that these restore points are for your protection. If you uninstall a program and suddenly a feature of Windows is not working correctly, you just need to roll it back with system restore. If you temporarily turn off system restore, you will save some space temporarily, BUT you will loose ALL of those restore points. Reducing the allowed space for system restore is a better choice if room is tight. If you have the disk space, just leave it alone and let it do it's job.
