I am trying to install Skype

November 25, 2011 at 09:31:43
Specs: Windows XP
When I go to install Skype it says you have chosen to open skype setup .exe which is a Binary File (957.K3) from http://download.skype.com Would you like to save this file. Then is has two boxes one says save file the other cancel. I do save file and then double click and it start to install then another sign say Fatal Error Failed to get proc address for encode pointer (kernel32.dll)

What does this mean? If we get cut off my e-mail address is pat kelley @fuse.net.

I do not know much about computers. But we did have Skype installed to this computer before.

I even used my husbands name to see if I could open Skype but it did not work.

In the first instance I would suggest you use the edit function to remove your email address from your post as this invites a deluge of spam. Also note that this is a public forum and correspondence is not entered into. You are probably better to direct your query to Skype support for a qualified answer. Go here: https://support.skype.com/en-us/
