Just a general point. Tread carefully when looking for files using Google. These days it is littered with all sorts of magic fixes, anti-virus programs etc, which are often scams. Ewen's link avoids these by including the word "download". Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

When i start windows messenger i get the following error message: This program cant start because webemcomn2.dll is missing from your computer Try reinstalling the program

Well, as I said, it must be Windows Live Messenger. Everywhere it says the old "Windows Messenger" is not part of Windows 7. I assume you haven't installed the latter.
