Make sure you typed the correct password. Letters in the password must be typed using the correct case." You have several options:

Option 1: If this is a brand new HP notebook, you can refer to the HP dealer and ask for warranty help.

Option 2: Read the HP documentation that came with your notebook and see if you can do a Factory Reset.

Option 3: If you have Windows 7 Home Premium DVD ( or can borrow one ), you can boot to it and choose System Restore and restore your notebook to a time before the problem has occurred. Log-on password is not requested for this operation.

You may have to give the boot priority to DVD drive in BIOS to be able to boot to DVD drive.

Hope the above helps..

HP supply a recovery partition which can be accessed by repeatedly pressing F10 at startup. this will bring to an app that should allow to do a factory reset.
this will however delete your C; drive and all your files then restore your system to the day you bought it.

you also download a recovery/repair cd from here and try a repair first, you may save your files.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

I'm encountering exactly the same problem. Did you find an answer that works? I really don't want to do a factory reset because I would have to re-install numerous games. thanks!
