Get the Windows 7 drivers and software, 32 or 64 bit depending which you are using.

It was rather late last night when I found out what was going wrong when reinstalling my HP psc 2110 All-in-one printer in W7. I followed the instructions on the HP site, but they did not work at all. I started a chat with HP support and they could not help me either. Then I saw the light! I took the USB cable out of the original port and connected it to another port. Then it was PNP and my printer has been reinstalled as before. This seems to be a bug in Windows (Vista&7) when reinstalling a device with general drivers the software is not recognizing the device in the original port. Windows assumes everything is already Ok because the printer is in the list of known devices for that port, but no drivers installed!

So problem solved.

PS: Although this printer can not be used on the homegroup. When you try to save the share settings it gives an error. This has something to do with authorisation settings and these can get corrupted at some instance. I go and try the sharing on a fresh installed Windows x64 later today if this is the case.

Last update on this subject. The sharing of the HP printer works as expected on a fresh install of W7x64. So my older W7 has been corrupted somehow.
