Specs: Windows XP Pro
Hello,
I have a wireless home network setup for 2 computers. The desktop is running win 7 and has an hp printer attached to it by a usb cable. The laptop, running xp pro, connects to the network wirelessly. Whenever I start up it tells me the printer is offline. I cannot print from the laptop without reinstalling the drivers every time. It works fine from the desktop, and after I've reinstalled drivers. Help?

I did, it doesn't do anything. Doesn't give an error message or anything, just sits there.

Older ( 3 years or more) HP printers had a unique setup where they couldn't be shared over a network through a USB cable. Check HP's web site and Google around for info on your particular printer.

Oh drat. You've given me a correct answer that I really didn't want! Sigh. But I don't want to buy a new printer! <whine/>

You could try a stand alone print server, but they can cost nearly as much as some new printers.
