Specs: Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, Quad Core i7 12 giggs
I have an HP 2710 all in one printer that works well with Win 7 on a new PC, my old PC had XP Pro. When on XP, I had all the functionality that the HP Photosmart 2600/2700 series software has but the software will not install on Win 7. I tried to download the Photosmart software from HP I found by surfing the web for the 2600 and it installed, but when it came time to plug in the USB cable, the software did not indicate that it saw my printer. I liked the functionality that the HP Photosmart 2600/2700 series software had with the scanning buttons, save as pdf, etc. but I don't know if there is a work around to get a successful installation. Presently, I am using CutePDF and works fine for the most part but I am hoping that there is a solution to installing the software that came with the printer. I went to HP's website for contact info to email them but they have a self help for out of warranty products. According to their support site, Win 7 has the drivers built in but I am hoping to find a way to get the software I have on the CD that is for 98, ME, 2000 and XP to install on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I guess, you have to install the XP mode in Windows 7, where you can install your software, so that it runs in XP compatible mode.

Thanks paulsep! My Dell came with Win7 already installed, I have the CD. Is it just a matter of loading the CD, running set up as if I am about to install Win7 and then select XP compatible mode? Will it over write my previous Win 7 installation? I don't want to end up doing an install of Win7 and losing everything I have. Thanks again!
