HP MediaSmart DVD Update Problem

December 25, 2011 at 12:24:02
Specs: Windows 7, 4gb
I am having a problem with my HP MEDIASMART DVD program running blu rays. I always use it but now I cannot. Everytime a blu ray is inserted it asks for me to.check for.a.update and it.does.this non-stop and will not allow me to watch any more movies. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled the newest version over and over hoping it would.work but I keep getting the same update message not allowing me to watch. The laptop is a HP pavilion dv7-4171us.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Try a restore point.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Although a restore point might work.. what I would recommend is to get another program to play the blu-ray for you.

Check out download.com and type in blu-ray programs and you will see a whole list of programs that can play blu-ray discs.

Stay away from download dot com!

This topic was recently discussed in "The Lounge". Filehippo is much safer.

If it did work and now does not then you could try a restore point just to tell if some change happened. Not sure I'd compound the issue with another program. If anything I'd use portableapps vlc.
