Specs: Windows 7, pent 4 / 2ghz max ram using readyboost
I was supposed to get win8 for $14 as an upgrade ,but I missed th time limit .the ms operator told me that there were no more win pro 7 disks left so she upgraded me to win 7 ultimate. the hp envy laptop crashed one day and I had to reload the system, which I did as a clean install but now I have a yellow flag next to sm bus and all kinds of errors pop up on every start up what do I need to do to fix this....any ideas ?

You need to use the motherboard CD that came with the comp.

Are those specs for your laptop? If they are, it must be fairly old. It's impossible for any OS disk to contain all drivers for every piece of hardware in existence. You should have made backup copies of all the drivers before you wiped the HDD & reinstalled Win7.

If you have a very old laptop, it's unlikely HP would have Win7 drivers available, so that means you're going to have to do some digging to identify your hardware & locate compatible drivers. There's not a lot we can do without knowing the model number of your Envy. Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? Do you know which chipset the motherboard is based on? That's the place to start.
