Specs: Windows 7
My HP DVD1270e External drive worked fine on older XP computer. New Computer is Windows 7 Emachine. HP Drive says it is compatible with Windows 7. When you plug the USB Drive into any port on PC it says unknown USB Device is not recognized and will not function. It show "unknown device" when you view it. I can't find any drivers on HP support. Has anyone seen this before?

what is really weird is that when I search HP site for drivers, they do not recognize the model number, but when I Googled it, I did find retailers selling it. I think you would do well putting in a 'ticket' to HP's support and let them give you a link to the proper drivers. I am assuming that they have renumbered one of their other models for some of their retailers so we cannot as easily price it around (the number is not even similar to their other models listed when I added the words 'external DVDRW' to the model number) so they will just have to help you, or replace it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
