Netbooks usually come with Win7 Starter (or WinXP) because they're not capable of running much else. Do you have at least 2GB RAM & a 64-bit CPU? I doubt it. You most likely have a 32-bit Atom CPU & only 1GB RAM. it would help if you had listed the model number of your netbook.

Buy a DVD and boot to it. Follow instructions at microsoft's web pages.

Hang up and live.

Apparently posting the exact model number was too difficult. OK. Step by step? Here you go:

1. check your system specs. Make sure you have a 64-bit CPU before buying a 64-bit OS. If you have a 32-bit CPU, you'll need a 32-bit OS.

2. check your RAM amount. The minimum required for WIn7 is 1GB but it doesn't perform exceptionally well with that amount. Upgrade to at least 2GB RAM, more would be even better, but many netbooks only accept 2GB max.

3. buy an external CD/DVD burner.

4. enter the BIOS & change the boot order settings. Make sure USB is listed before the HDD.

5. connect the external burner, insert the Win7 DVD, then boot up. Watch the screen & follow any prompts such as "press any key to boot from DVD..."

6. from there it's up to you. Do you want to completely wipe out the current partitioning & create new partitions?
