Download the Service Pack from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/... and then run the executable file.

Oops - just read your message properly. Although you say "Win 2K" in the subject line it appears that you have Windows 7. There are no service packs yet for Windows 7. Do not try to install the Windows 2000 one.

I found this post very confusing.
Please identify the OS in use, clearly describe the problem you are having, and how a service pack relates to this problem.

I suspect it's a question of a driver that works only on Windows 2000 SP 4 or later. What is needed is a Windows 7 driver. State the make and model of the hardware and it may be possible to find it, but I wouldn't hold out any great hopes as it sounds to be an old bit of hardware.
