How to uninstall then reinstall Windows 7 Internet Explorer

Specs: Windows 7
I need to uninstall I E then re-install it, in an effort to remove do-search. I have tried everything else, such as removing all traces from the registry, resetting home page etc.

See the link below. Probably not necessary to remove IE. If the version you are running is what came with your version of Windows then you can't uninstall it anyway.

Many thanks for the fast response.

OK I was looking for a way to get rid of do-search which has taken over. I have removed all references to it in the registry and on the machine. But still, in IE and Firefox, do-search comes up as the first page. A simple click on the home page icon takes me to what I want. It is annoying and was installed when I downloaded Wordpress.

Cheers.

Try a quick scan with malwarebytes and fix all it finds, sounds like your PC is infected:

While you are at it run ADWCleaner too:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...

"Save" the file and double click on it. Run the Scan then the Clean.

Keep all logs in case further action proves necessary.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

My previous reply has vanished.........

I had Malware on the machine and had tried that to no avail.

Will try ADW later today and post result. Meanwhile Firefox is repaired with a complete uninstall and re-install.

Many thanks.

Have now tried ADW but do-search is still coming up using IE. It must have some code buried really deep.

Have you seen the links below?

You may need to temporarily turn off Windows system restore, if this is writing to the registry.
