How to uninstall software to enable a new printer to be conn

January 16, 2015 at 03:18:32
Specs: Windows 7
I have bought a H/P deskjet printer 1510. This was bought to replace the exact same model which became faulty. need to uninstall the old soft ware to reinstall for the new printer software. The old software is currently showing as the default printer.
When we purchased the original all that was required was to connect the printer to the laptop via a usb and it immediately dowm loaded the software. Should I be able to do this again once I have removed the original software. How do I uninstall the original printer software?

"Should I be able to do this again once I have removed the original software"
You will need to read the manual, it is also included in the CD.

"How do I uninstall the original printer software?"
Start > Devices and Printers, right click on your printer > Remove device.

If the printer is the exact model you shouldn't need to do anything. If the new printer isn't working after connecting it then perhaps the old one is not actually broken.

You can have multiple printers connected simultaneously.

You may need to run a software removal tool. See the link below.

Othehill, that is not always the case. I had a client who had a faulty HP printer, they replaced it with the exact same model yet the printer wouldn't work. I deleted the software & drivers, then reinstalled it and it worked after that. I suspect it might be an issue with different versions of the firmware installed on the two different printers but that's just speculation.
