Sounds like you don't have administrative privileges on this computer. Your computer, your parent's, or a work computer?

Hi,

If this issue started occurring after doing some recent software changes on your computer, then I would suggest you to restore your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

If the issue still persists, then i would suggest restoring your system back to the factory settings. Ensure backing up your data before reinstalling Operating system.

Thanks & Regards

Your answer assumes that the guy has administrative privileges on the machine. I think a logical approach to the problem requires that we first determine if that is the case.

This sort of question is often asked by kids trying to bypass restrictions put in place by their parents or workers trying to install stuff on a company PC (not implying that that is the case here but I think it's important to establish that first before offering advice). It can be a bit like all those "I've forgotten my password" questions.

As eluded to by ijack, you need administrator privileges to do this as well. If you only have access to a user account, you cannot do this either. Please explain more completely so you will get the complete and proper advice.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Then the previous posters are probably correct. You don't have administrative privileges.

You can't upgrade to a higher privilege level from a lower one. Only works the other way around.
