Specs: Windows 7, 2.5/6
Dear All,

I have HP Pavilion DV6 Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium.
The Partition size of C:\ Driver was 400GB, So i shrink the volume now its 350 GB am unable to shrink it further because of some unmoveable system files. Please suggest some third party tool for this.

Secondly, i have taken system image of C:\ Drive, Now, if i resize the C:\ Partion will that image work or not.

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated....

Thanks and regards

I have shrunk Win7 to 20GB using EASEUS Partition Manager. You can resize the image after you restore it.

"EASEUS Partition Manager"

I think you mean EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition? Totally free, easy to use, works great.

You should only use windows to re-size partitions.

What it is saying is, some program has data that is locked to some space on the drive. It may be possible to do a complete backup and restore but that would involve some risk.

Some programs are very difficult to copy back to some random spot. Without knowing what file this is we can't say. Could be as simple as pagefile or such.
Could be some windows file too.

Hang up and live.

Temporarily turn off paging files (virtual memory) and try shrinking the drive again. If it works, you just need to turn it on again and Windows will reevaluate the 'best' spot for it on the partition create it again.
You also can do this with your System Restore BUT this is more dangerous since you will be loosing all of those restore points and potentially the ability to recover in event of a problem. IF you want to try this, make a full disk image and a Windows 7 Repair disk so you can roll it back to what you have right now if something goes wrong.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
