What software are you using to play them? Do you have VLC Player? https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index....

Yes VLC is worth a shot.

If necessary try washing the disks with warm water and a little washing up liquid. On the underside run your thumb all around each disk from center to outside. Rinse then dry thoroughly with kitchen paper. If you get them to play copy immediately to hard disk for preservation.

Sorry I'm late in answering. I have VLC since years. With this I was able to get at least three of the four video folders back, but no sound. The fourth folder does not work any longer. I have copied all folders to my PC. So now I want to try to join the working folders into one video and put comments to it. So that at least I can show it when people are interested. I understand from the various answers that mentioned VLC, that it does much more than play video's. I'll start studying the possibilities.

Many thanks

Did you try washing the disks. VLC plays about anything but it isn't an editing program (unless I've missed something).

You might give IsoBuster a try. it's great for recovering data from discs.
