how to run Windows 3.1 CDrom on windows 7

Specs: Windows 7
I have and old but excellent interactive CDRom from 1996 which no longer works on our school network – especially the audio. Is there a way of getting it started ? I would much appreciate some help.

Did you try installing it under '98 compatibility? Right click on installer and select compatibility tab and select Windows 98 from the list. If not, then you can run it under a virtual machine, but I am not sure if you will also need a 95/98 install disk after the virtual machine program is installed (Google or wait for someone else for details).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Some of those old disks used old soundblaster settings and needed oddball config.sys entries.

I'd try it in dosbox maybe or get vmplayer and load an old copy of Win98/95
