how to run heat-diagnostic on Win7 HP PC

Specs: Windows 7, 4 gig
this HP runs for awhile then locks up; I'm assuming heat is the culprit. Is there a free heat diagnostic download? (Not sure what tags are.)

For Windows 7 I'm using HP. I didn't find anything in Setup by tapping the
F10 key when I turn my computer on.
If you will start tapping the F9 key when you turn your computer on you
can get into the Diagnostic Tool. That will test your CPU - Memory -
and Hard Drive.
If your CPU is getting hot it will probably fail the test. Not sure since I've
never had a heat problem with my HP Windows 7
My Window XP - eMachine gave the temperature in the Bios

Install the program Speedfan to read the temperatures.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
