Specs: Windows 7
Hi community - One fine day I decide to go into my pictures library I opened it up and didn't even recognize it . Half of the screen was blank . It usually had all my pics. displayed clearly , now they're gone with little versions on the side . I don't understand . I've done nothing to alter the library , what can i do to return my pictures library to it's original form ? I'm running windows 7 64 bit

You will see a button on the top near the right side that if you move your pointer over it will say 'change your view' and a down arrow next to it with more choices. Try a few until you find what you like.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

That got it thank you ! If i could can i bother you with one more question also about my pictures library . There's a pic. of a cog that keeps eating up my pics. For instance right now there are two more where pictures were , there pics of cogs over top of a paper folded at the top r.h. corner at the bottom one reads "picasa" the other reads"desktop" but there's been many more . If i open them a box opens in wordpad with a bunch of mumbo jumbo written in there . Do you know what and why these evil cogs are doing this and how can i stop them ?

I do not recognize the 'cog' reference but googling 'picasa' gets you these links and others:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picasa

If you did not want this program, uninstall it under programs, and if you did not download it, then just to be sure, download/install/run Malwarebytes to make sure you do not have an infection pretending to be this program. Malwarebytes often can pick up malware that antivirus programs may miss.
