Solved How to remove access to the internet

May 1, 2012 at 08:16:57
Specs: Windows 7
I have a young teenager that's addicted to the internet (on till 3-4am even on schoolnights) but needs his laptop for his schoolwork. We've tried to block his laptop from the modem settings which he's found a way around and even removed the internet access in the house altogether and he's found ways into neighbouring open networks. Is there a way to permanently remove his access to the internet including browsers, skype, messenger etc. Am at my wits end!

disable the wifi via the bios
secure the bios with a password only you know
put in a router as suggested with a schedule and block internet except for the hours you allow.
make his a user not an administrator on the laptop. This will prevent a lot of problems.
install parental control software so you get updates as to where and when on the internet and what is transpiring.

Take his laptop away until he needs it. If there are many open wireless connections available it will be hard to cut off his access.

Take the wireless card out of his laptop, give him an Ethernet cable to connect to your router. Go buy a good router with scheduling and only give access to the internet at approved times.

I think the take the laptop away is about the only way.

Then you'd have to secure all devices that can access the internet.

Send him to a boot camp.

Text, talk, drive...CRASH.

Hang up and drive @#$%^^
