Hey don't go too fast... slow down ...and first tell us how you plan on reinstalling Windows 7. What disc do you have?

As XpUser said stop before you leap.
Reformatting will get nothing back, you will loose everything.
Were all these programs preloaded when you got the computer? do you have all the required instalation disks and drivers? lots of questions to answer before you start.
Most important question is why you feel it's needed? there may be an easier solution.

The owners manual is the best place for that information.

You might need to make disks now for all apps. Might need to buy them. Might have it on a hidden partition. Might be in the box still.

partition format has no relationship with WIn7 or Vista, as you has Win7 disk, after installing, of cource you are running Win7. You can format partition either in Win7 or Vista
