As far as I know, Microsoft Excel 2010 and Microsoft Excel 2010 Starter do not support wks files.
You can open such files in e.g. Microsoft Excel 2003 and export them to Excel format.
After that, you can use the files in Microsoft Excel 2010.

Try installing Openoffice (openoffice.org) if it is able to open it then you can resave it in excel format and it is completely free for as many computers as you need it for. It can open and save files in MOST office formats and it is a complete office suite. I have used it instead of MS Office on a few machines.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thanks for suggestions.
As I don't have 2 computers at the same time, can I install both Microsoft Excel 2003 and Excel 2010 at the same time in the same computer? Will they crash?
Please advise!

"...can I install both Microsoft Excel 2003 and Excel 2010 at the same time in the same computer?"

It would be safer to go with the previously mentioned OpenOffice. Installing 2 versions of the same program could "foul-up" one of them, especially if the newer version was installed first.
