Specs: Windows 7
Just a reminder to everyone using Win7
Don't forget to disable 2 things to help Win7
run fast.
1). Make sure to disable defragmenting.
Win7 is always defragmenting it hinders performance.
2). This one is up to you, but I usually disable UAC.
I've seen some clients have problems with running
software when UAC was enabled.
Make sure to reboot and hope this helps your Win7 run faster.

Win7 is always defragmenting ..

Not true. By default, Windows 7 Disk defragmenterl is scheduled to run only once a week, which means you do not have to do anything else. However, what you may want to do is change the default schedule to specify a different day and time for the Disk Defragmenter to run.

Once a week doesn't mean it is always running.

I disagree.

If you disable uac you can allow malicious code to have access to the system.

You would be better off learning and using as many best practices as you can to avoid problems.

Windows 7 has a slider for uac, so you can, for example, pick something in the middle which still protects somewhat but is not as annoying.
