Specs: Windows 7
I'm new to the computer so I need this info in laymen terms. I want to refer to two seperate documents at same time. How do I keep both of them open so I can go back and forth.

Many ways. One is to use the alt tab way. To switch between windows one can press and hold the alt key then touch the tab ke and the windows will switch between.

Another is to open both side by side. Almost every windows application has three icons in the upper right. A minus - key, then either a set of two boxes or single box and then the x icon.
The choice in the middle when selected to be a single box allows one to reduce the size. Then one can move each to a place where one can see. Windows 7 has some neat tricks on how it can use windows by grabbing the top blue bar and either wiggling it back and forth or to one side.

You really need some basic book or videos or schools to get the best use out of the computer. Most people would benefit from typing classes. Typing class may help you later if you wish to play a musical instrument too.
