That version is over 20 years old. Is has at least some 16 bit code in it and will not run on a 64 bit system.

Get a newer version. See the link below.

btw, it is Laptop.

You should be able to install it okay but as it's such an old version it will most likely not run on Windows 7 anyway, not because it's 64-bit Windows 7 but simply because it's Windows 7. Lotus 123 v1.1 predates Windows 7 by several years so it's not surprising the two are incompatible.

The only remedy therefore is to install say Windows 98 on another partition so you have a dual-boot configuration, install Lotus 123 on Windows 98 and run 98 when you want to use Lotus 123.

Or do what previous poster suggests.

Yep, 64 bit systems will only support down to 32 bit and 32 bit systems will support down to 16 bit. That is not to say that the pre-Windows 7 aspect isn't another factor in the equation, although XP compatibility mode will usually handle this aspect.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I used Lotus back in the 80's. If memory serves, version 1 came out in 1983, and it was written for DOS.

Unless the OP is referring to OS2, in which case 1.1 was released in 1991.

Ditto on the above comments though. I don't see any way you could get it to run in Windows 7. Unless you use a VM of course.

VM may not work either. I have an older version of a CAD program that uses a Dongle which has a driver. Newer drivers won't work because the dongle is too old.

I had things running in Windows 7 Ult. 32 bit, which I purposely bought suspecting I might have issues with 64 bit.

Anyway, I tried installing in Windows XP mode, Compatibility mode and VM. The program installed OK but the Dongle driver would not install correctly, no matter what I tried. Finally installed Vista Ult. 32 bit on an older computer and now have the dongle working. The Dongle driver is 16 bit.

Software is easier to get working than hardware drivers.
