Specs: Windows 7, intel core i7 - 680/8gb
Does it matter which sata connecter on the motherboard I use to install a third hard drive?

No, they are all identical in specification.

Don't forget you can also plug-in an external hard drive into a USB port too. That gives you greater flexibility when sharing between two or more computers, although it has to be said that external hard drives statistically have a higher likelyhood of causing problems compared to internal ones.
