I have lots of programs from Toshiba in my Toshiba laptop which seem to replicate Windows 7 features or the programs I normally use. Are there any I shouldn't unisntall?

You will have to be more specific than that since most of us do not have the same computer.
In general, you do not want outside utilities like back up, clean up, defrag, firewall, or anything from Norton or McAfee. otherwise, you are going to have to list them or Google them for a more specific answer. Some people will keep most of what is labeled from the system manufacturer, most will keep some, and some will wipe the drive and reinstall Windows from scratch. You will probably end up somewhere in the middle. Anything from outside sources, keep only if you think you may need it (like DVD burning software, etc.).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I agree with pappy, pcdecrapifier is the way to go. I would not remove any of the Toshiba power management programs or fnkey stuff, but everything else can go. If you are unsure if you need the program or not, you can look it up on google, or use msconfig to disable it from running on start up. This way if you do need it in the future then it will still be available.

Of course I have cleaned all programs that replicate Windows 7, with the help of Google when in doubt, and cleaned up the startup programs too but after using PCcleaner some of the silly Toshiba stuff has come back. So i give up, I need the computer to work and cannot afford the time to fiddle with it.I was being excesively tidy and controlling, I rather work witht the pc than fiddle with its innards! A big thanks anyway.
