How to get rid of a second OS?

March 13, 2011 at 20:52:58
Specs: Windows 7
I just got a computer from my Grandpa and I guess he was scammed into buying an illegal copy of Windows XP. When he had gotten it he was having problems so he just got a legitimate copy of Windows 7. So right now I have Windows 7 but I have the dual boot screen and I am not sure how to get rid of XP. I have looked around and tried different things that were suggested and I can't seem to get rid of XP. I am wondering if it is something different with mine because it is a bad copy? So I'm just trying to get rid of the bad copy, I don't want it anymore.

Thank you

You need to completely wipe the hard drive & start from scratch.

you can delete the xp, and then drop in your win7 dvd and run a repair that will create a new boot sector and bingo your done, however you may have a better system if you just format and reinstall win7.

i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Make a recovery disk in Windows 7.
Delete XP partition in Windows 7 Disk Management and create new partition for files, etc.
Use msconfig 'Boot' tab and remove XP from the list.
Restart. If you have trouble booting, then use recovery disk to do a repair of Windows 7 and boot sector.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
