How to get hardware acceleration

Ultimate Windows 7 ultimate

Specs: Windows 7, Compaq EVO D500/ 1 gb
I am using win7 on compaq evo d500 desktop with 1 gb ram and p-4 1.8 ghz processor. I have nvidia standard vga graphics adpter.
If I start to play a game it is prompting that hardware aceleration is not supported.

Do you have nVidia Control panel installed? If so, check under
the advanced settings & see if there's any mention of GPU
acceleration & if it's enabled. If there's no mention then make
sure you have the latest certified nVidia drivers installed & check
again. If still no mention then I guess you need a better graphics
card.

Also note that you are running around the minimum for windows 7 and a little low for most newer games.

From what I see this was a P4 system with PC133 RAM and a 16MB Nvidia Vanta AGP card. The unit was a business system and not designed for gaming. With the age of it I am surprised the drivers are working for Win 7.

Does your hardware list show all devices installed? As noted when using the newer OS's the recommendation is a minimum of 2GB especially where a video card is using RAM for video memory boost.

What games are you running and what are the minimum hardware specs?
