How to exclude one monitor from mstsc /span mode

January 3, 2012 at 07:18:15
Specs: Win7, 4gb
I have 4 monitors and when I remote in to one of our servers I use the "mstsc /span" remote desktop command to have the remote session use multiple monitors. Does anyone know how to exclude one monitor from this spanned session so that I can see my main PC on it?

thanks,

Thanks,
REMGU

The span by default covers multiple monitors, it's what that command is programmed to do. So to answer your question, no I personally don't know how or think there is a way using that command.

I know it doesn't solve the issue, but why not just close one?

Thanks for the reply.

"...close one?"

I want to span across 3 of my monitors and have the 4th showing my local desktop.

I'm sorry, I guess I got a little confused with your question.

Okay, you have four monitors.. when you use RD, it spans across all four monitors leaving you with no desktop, right?

No problem. That's correct. I'm trying to get away from having to minimize the window in order to get to my desktop.

Thanks,

Ohhh, I see.. well, using that particular command, then no, there's no way around this.

That /span command was written intentionally to include all monitors to provide multiple visuals to work with the destination.

Sorry pal.. wish I could help further.
