Solved How to delete an audio track from a video.

October 22, 2014 at 13:06:57
Specs: Windows 7
In the file I'm working with the audio is empty. There is an audio track but there is no sound or it wasn't recorded - an empty audio track. I want to delete it, but can find nothing in the manuals. I tried the internet, but ended up with 75 malware files. I just want to delete the audio track and put in another one.

you need some video dubbing software to add audio.

you don't delete the existing track, you just overwrite what is already there.

Be aware that any decent audio dubbing software isn't going to be free. There is software that will remove the audio track, but that is a pointless procedure if you are then going to reinstate it.

Windows Movie Maker will do it - free from MS if it isn't already on-board:

I've done exactly what you are asking. You remove the audio track by zeroing the volume from with WMM and then add a sound track of your choice.

It all depends on the file type of your video (not stated) as to whether it will handle it.

Yes, only use software recommended by a reputable computer forum - there are a lot of nasties out there.

Thank you all. What a wonderful bunch of helpful people. I was able to delete the blank audio and insert my own audio file. Thanks again.

I prefer to use Faasoft's great Video Converter to do this task.

It is not only a video converter but also a video editor, which supports removing/adding/extracting audio from video as your desire.
