There is no upgrade path from a 32 bit to a 64 bit OS. To change to a 64 bit OS you would need to backup all user data, do a clean install of the 64 bit OS and all applications, and restore your data.

Why do you wish to do this? In most cases it is not worth the effort.

Most applications today do not take full advantage of 64bit OS's yet.
You will need at least 4GB RAM to run well.
For new install or new purchase I would recommend 64bit, mainly for the future, but the amount of trouble you would go through now, is probably not worth it. Photoshop, AutoCad, some games and a few other applications can benefit from it, especially if you plan on using 8GB of RAM or more (16GB or more for Photoshop and AutoCad), then it might be worth the effort.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you only have 2G ram then you DO NOT want to do that. There is no reason to add in 32 more bits.
