From the sounds of things you probably just need to start clean - look for any kind of DVD that came with your computer that either sais "Operating system re-installation" or "windows 7 installation dvd"

Make sure that you backup all data from the computer, delete all of the partitions from the disk then let windows 7 work it's magic

If you do need to work with linux mint in the future, look at some of the tutorials out there on how to configure dual booting (so when you turn your computer on you can choose which operating system to run)

Your system probably came with a recovery partition, if that is gone then you will have to purchase a set or restore disks from the manufacturer for your system which will include your operating system and all of your drivers plus any programs they preinstalled on your system. If you explain to HP that you wanted to try the Linux but did not understand you would loose everything and now just want your system back, they will offer you the recovery disks at a reasonable rate and it should be an easy fix from there (of course back up anything you have not already lost to an external drive).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
