How do you install windows 7 on HP Pavilion 7

Specs: Windows XP, Windows 7
I just bought Windows7 for my HP pavilion 754n and some how it doesnt work!
I just bought this windows7 and I dont want it to be a waste of money.
Please help me!

You didn't include the specs of the machine. Plus, before you bought Win7, you should have ran this first (to see if your machine can handle it):

Note. If you have a system running XP, then AFTER you verify that there are not going to be problems by running the compatibility program in response#1, then you need to do a clean install. There is not direct upgrade from XP to Windows 7 so you will need to backup your files to an external drive, then reset your boot order to boot from your DVD drive (YES DVD, not just CD drive) before your hard drive and then put in the install disk. When you begin you will need to go to the Custom install and then to the Partition/Format path and then delete the original partition and create a new partition from the available space.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
